Irene San Millán Rodríguez was born in Ciudad Real in 1997. She graduated Valedictorian of the year in Chemistry (B.Sc. eq. in Chemistry) in June 2019 at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM).
In September 2018, during the last year of her degree, she started to work in MSOC Nanochemistry group under the supervision of Prof. Sonia Merino Guijarro and Prof. Ana María Sánchez-Migallón Bermejo with the project “Synthesis of hydrogels for tissue engineering applications”. Also, she successfully defended her final degree project titled “Tissue engineering: growth factors”.
One year later, in September 2019, she began a Master’s degree in Chemistry Research carrying out the project: “Hydrogels based on chitosan: synthesis and characterization”, also under the supervision of Prof. Sonia Merino Guijarro and Prof. Ana María Sánchez-Migallón Bermejo.
In 2020, she obtained a FPU fellowship from the MEC to carry out her PhD titled “Polymeric materials as three-dimensional scaffolds for cell cultures and cell differentiation”, under the supervision of Prof. Ester Vázquez Fernández-Pacheco and Prof. Inmaculada Ballesteros Yáñez.
