Federica Longo was born on July 29, 1995, in Lecce, Italy.

In December 2020, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (L-27) from the University of Ferrara and in the same month, she began her Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences with a specialization in materials and energy (LM-54).

In 2022, she participated in two Blend Intensive Programs (BIP) funded by the European alliance COLOURS: one in July at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) entitled “DISCOVERING THE FASCINATING WORLD OF NANOMATERIALS” and in December at the University of Paderborn (Germany) entitled “NANOMATERIALS”.

In January 2023, she started a curricular internship at the University of Ferrara’s industrial and organic chemistry laboratories within the “Biobased and Green Polymers” group. There, she developed her final project entitled “Preparation of hybrid poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-keratin colloidal systems and characterization of their thermal response”. In March 2024, she successfully defended the project and obtained her Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences.

Also in 2024, she participated in and won the selection for the Erasmus+ Traineeship and, in April of the same year, joined the “MSOC Nanochemistry” group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, collaborating on the project for the development of fluorescent hydrogels for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds in aqueous environments.

Since January 2025, she has started her joint doctoral program in Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in collaboration with University of Ferrara.
